Coulee Region Herbal Institute

2010 Classes & Events

 

Classes and events are typically held on the third Sunday of each month.  Classes and events are free for members and cost $5 for non-members.  Some classes may request a nominal fee for cost of materials.  Check details for date, location and contact number.

Current Events:  

June 27th (note 4th Sunday) Community Plant Walk

1:00-3:00pm at Foster Home Community Garden, Viroqua, WI

with Robin Mari & Jess Krueger. 

The best herbs are those which present themselves nearby where people are busy planning & planting other things… then, of course, there’s always those garden favorites, too.

July 18th  Herbal Ice Cream Social & Garden Plant Walk 

1:00-3:00pm at Morning Star Herb Farm, south of Wesby, WI –

Hosted by Carol Willis.  Last year was a hugh success!!  We even had folks here from as far away as Washington, DC who vowed to return again… We taste tested 6 different varieties of homemade Herbal Ice Creams, each one unique & simply out of this world!!  There was not a drop left in any bowl! So, our annual  Prairie Walk & Collecting Trip – is now a week later:

August 22nd, 1:00pm to ??  Lacher Farm, Wiscoy Valley, MN

south of Winona, MN, West of La Crosse,WI  Car-pooling & camping available.  Bring a snack to share, too.  Join plant enthusiasts Carl Lacher & Carol Jacobs & experience the relationships of natural plant communities & our part in it all.  RSVP!!  For more info or directions call 507-452-1585
 

Calling for Submissions -

for our next issue of the CRHI Quarterly Newsletter!  Its never too early!!!!! 

Submissions are due approximately a month before the each Equinox or Solstice.

For Spring - late Feb             

For Summer – late May

For Fall – late Aug                

For Winter – late Nov   (although it may not go out till after the Holidays!)

 If you are a member & haven't heard from us in awhile, please let us know!

Any Local Volunteers to lead this one???  Please let us know!   {note: we've really been fortunate to have had Anna Gerenday come from Minneapolis to teach us the last 2 years!  However, she's retired now & won't be able to come back this year.  Does anyone know Tom Volk (http://tomvolkfungi.net/) or any of his students at UW-LAX?  If so, please put in a good word for us so they might invite us on one of their Fall walks!!}   Let us know if you'd like to help with this one! - gramherb@hotmail.com

October 17th - Topic to be decided (location, time & presenter, too)  Any interest in a delightful & scary talk about Halloween Herbs along with an Herbal Treat Exchange?
